Dag Tre (Day Three) ; Onsdag (Wednesday)

I should really start another blog picturing the dishes I prepare on a daily basis. Maybe this can become someone else's 'cookbook' for studying abroad. So presenting to you BREAKFAST!

Bread with beef ham and Coffee

As there'll be Swedish language lessons on Thursday, I need to head over in the early morning to obtain my copy of the Swedish language handbook (~S$8). Damn cold wind gushing all over the place.

Flowers around the building....

Lazy me decided against cooking lunch as it was getting a little late and settled for fast food near my hostel instead. Sibylla is the name and they serve some nice juicy burgers there. Pricelist, see below. But I can tell you the price of an ice-cream though: ~S$4.50.

At 4pm Swedish time, it was time for the mentor group to meet up at the cursed AF building. The itinery today was city tour and the mentors: Ola and Sophie brought us around to check out the "must-see" places in Lund.
Presenting to you Lund's oldest cathedral....damn huge castle-like cathedral.

Next stop was the Botanical Garden in Lund. There was a slight drizzle and the drizzle here doesn't drench or hurt at all. Gently it lands on you and as it came, it left. The flowers grow really well in such cool climates. Something I seldom see in Singapore.

On the way back to the AF building, we came across the Lunds Nation building. And mind you, the student unions here are not the paper tigers back home. These unions pack a serious punch in many policies.

Finally, just before the group splits up to head home, we went for a meal of Fallafel on the mentors' recommendations. About this Fallafel, it has many pieces of vegetable+peas etc blended into a potato croquette-like thing and put into a wrap with even more vegetables.

Dag Två (Day Two) ; Tisdag (Tuesday)

Since I just came back from the first Swedish language lesson, I shall practise and write something in Swedish whenever I can in my blog posts.

Back to this posting, below's a shot at the surroundings of the building called Kårhuset where the General Information Meeting was held. According to my mentor (who's a really handsome Swedish), this is also the building which is commonly used by the Science faculty for lectures etc.

Kårhuset and Surroundings

The first breakfast was a little shabby as the supermarket I explored was way too expensive and way too little variety. So I settled with a loaf of multi-grain bread and margarine.

On the way back took this shot of Delphi Block E. The landmark/meeting point for the few of us stay in Delphi.

Being a freshie, naturally I got lost...and without a map too. But nevertheless, the time lost wasn't too great as I managed to locate the Biology faculty! Really nice and cool architecture. Everything looks so harmless and serene.

Went along with the Malaysians on exchange here to the International Desk etc and finally we ended up at downtown to shop for lunch. This was my lunch from those hotdog stands that we usually see in the movies/games. For 25 SEK (~SG5.80), I got this hotdog set. The sausage's real huge like 20cm long? The red gooey stuff tastes great too!

Today I tried a different supermarket on the others' recommendation downtown called COOP. Some call it "Co-op" and some call it a "Coop". This supermarket is really good compared to Willy's. The variety of stuff they have is really a lot...and one can even find Asian spices and sauces like Kikoman soy sauce etc. The price is reasonable and cheap relative to Willy's too.

Rice 5kg (~S$20), Milk 1L (~S$1.70), Hotdogs (~S$4.30) and Eggs (~S$5.20)

New groceries equates to more ingredients for a better meal. For the second dinner in Sweden, I did something simple. Scrambled eggs, beef ham, soy sauce chicken and of course rice!

First day in Lund

First arrival in Copenhagen was a complete mess. The airport passport control took forever as 2 international flights arrived at the same time and the ongoing construction works at the airport didn't help either.

So after much tussle with my luggage, I finally found myself with a train ticket and on the correct platform without knowledge of which train to board.

Train Station in Copenhagen

So on I hoped onto a train, the train went from Copenhagen Airport towards Malmo station (~20mins) and paused at Malmo for around 15mins before it proceeded to Lund C station (~15mins).

Make a guess at what is the facility in this photo below before you look at the captions!!

A Lift at Lund C Station

After all the administrative works and unpacking my stuff, it's time to head back to the main AF building to meet up with my new found friend from USA, Jake, to head downtown for grocery shopping.

Along the way, realised there's a horse stable just outside the entrance of our hostel grounds.

Horse lazing around

Walked a long way back to university compounds but what a great sight along the way! I love their architecture!

Random houses

Ok, so I did some grocery shopping. Bought chicken, pasta, yoghurt, bread etc. By dinner time, this was what I managed to whip up: Steamed Chicken Thigh with a hot, piping bowl of Tom Yam Noodles.

Sweden....finally

Sunrise above Moscow

In case some of you have just realised that i've disappeared from Singapore, i'm currently now an exchange student over at Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

So I arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark after a gruelling 10hours overnight flight....

Copenhagen International Airport
Trained over to Lund C station, Sweden. Cost me 101 DKK for a 30mins ride....

And finally arrived in Lund city...
